Garth Neil Matson age 55 of Branch passed away unexpectedly on July 25, 2015. He was born on May 3, 1960 in Ludington to Barbara Hinds and Richard Matson. Garth was a hardworking man as he owned and operated Complete Home Maintenance. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed spending time with his family and especially loved to go fishing with his dad. Garth will always be remembered by his infectious smile. He served in the Army National Guard for several years. Garth is survived by his parents Barbara Hinds of FL and Richard Matson of Branch; sisters, Terri (Joe) Negele of Branch, Robin (Jimmy Strange) Bogus of Branch; brothers, Todd (Jill) Matson of IL and Jimmy Hughes of AZ; stepsister, Beth Hendrickson; stepbrother, James (Kelly) Hendrickson; uncles, Bill Hinds of WI, Timothy (Jean) Hinds of WI, Michael (Dana) Hinds of Ludington, Dan Hinds of TX, Greg Hinds of Ludington; aunts, Mary Bowne of Ludington, Ann (Barry) Schihl of Midland, Kathy (Jim) Shillinger of Ludington along with numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Walter and Josephine Maton, James and Barbara Hinds; aunts and uncles; Jack (Laurie) Matson, Freeman (Marilyn) Aden, Yvonne Milvert, Patricia Shultz, Jim (Patricia) Hinds, Bob Bowne; stepmother, Paulette Matson; friend and cousin, Jimmy Milvert and nephews, Steven Matson and Jacob Hendrickson. Cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be held from 11:30 to 3:30 PM on Sunday August 9, 2015 at Scottville Riverside Park at the Pavilion. Father Wayne Wheeler will officiate a memorial service at 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Garth’s family.
