George M. Reed
<p>George "Bootsie" M. Reed, 62, of New Castle, passed away the morning of July 29, 2015 at Jameson Memorial Hospital. Born on February 3, 1953 in Chester, MD, he was the son of the late George M. Reed, Sr. and Elizabeth Johnson Brock. Surviving at home is his beloved wife, the former Shirrell Fish, who he married on October 6, 2005. </p><p><br></p><p>After 32 years of working, George retired from the Laborers Union Local 964. He enjoyed fishing, cooking, and fitness. He was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers. George's greatest joy came from spending time with his family. </p><p><br></p><p>In addition to his wife, George is survived by his children, Marlo Thurman of Florida and Shante Davis of Missouri; stepchildren, Jaala Haskins of Jamestown, NY, Robert Calhoun Jr. of Quehanna, PA, Donte Calhoun Sr., and Diondre Calhoun, both of New Castle; brothers, Tony Reed and Emanuel Moore, both of Maryland; sisters, Etta Currie of Farrell, PA, Dollie Jean Reed of Maryland, Chanel Johnson of Chicago, IL, and Teresa Reed of Annapolis, MD; four grandchildren; and six step-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Charlotte Searcy. </p><p><br></p><p>Visitation will be held Monday from 10:30am to 12:00pm at Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 941 S Mill St. Services will be conducted Monday at 12:00pm at the funeral home, officiated by Reverend David Young of Prevailing Word World Outreach Center.</p>Obituary
