Obituary of Florence Denniss Florence Denniss of Saskatoon passed away into the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at St. Paul’s Hospital on July 27/15. Florence was born in Radisson, Sask. on September 29 1935 to Frank and Lillian McConnell. She was second in the family of five children. Florence gave her heart and life to Jesus Christ at 5 years of age. She moved to Semans with her family on Sept. 1942 and continued her education in Semans. Later moving to Punnichy to work for the Doctor. She then worked for a number of years as a Nursing Aid in Nokomis Hospital. In 1952 she married the love of her life Alfred of Nokomis and together they took over Alfred’s parent’s farm and farmed for 43 years. Florence was Alfred’s right hand man trucking grain, running the baler, milking cows and running for repairs and as well a big garden was kept every year. Two sons and two chosen daughters were born of this union. Vernon in 1955, Gordon in 1957, Colleen joined the family in 1962 and Cheryl in 1964. As well they welcomed into their home for 6 years Jim, a foster child with Downs Syndrome. Florence loved children and did a lot of baby sitting with sometimes up to 4 children for up to 3 weeks at a time. Florence also gave loving care to her mother in law and her mother in their final hours. Florence along with her husband and family attended Lanigan Pentecostal Church now known as Life Point Church since it’s beginning in 1967. Florence served as Sunday School teacher, pianist and organist. She was Secretary Treasurer from 1972 – 2011. Over the years Florence and Alfred entertained in various Nursing Homes in surrounding towns with Florence on the piano and Alf playing the saw or Florence playing the accordion and Alf on the guitar and mouth organ. They also played at weddings and other various community functions. In her senior years Florence enjoyed knitting and knit many baby outfits that were donated to children in need, baby caps to the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon, and in her final months donated many touges and mitts to the Light House Supported Living in Saskatoon. Florence was predeceased by her father in 1949, step-father in 1988, mother in 1993, and youngest sister Mary in 2003 and her loving husband of 56 years Alfred in 2008. Florence is survived by her son Vernon and his wife Judy of Balgonie and their children Riley, Shane and Tyson and great grandchildren Zoe and Trinity, her son Gordon and his wife Judy of Saskatoon, daughter Colleen Denniss of Rosetown, and Cheryl Sorensen of Saskatoon and her children Jaylene, Megan and Kelsey and great grandchildren Payton, Kami Dee and Jersey. Also two brothers Jack and his wife Doris of Dawson Creek, BC, Ernest and his wife Tony of Drayton Valley, Alberta, one sister Ada Hodgins and her husband Elwood of Semans, sister in law Elsie Denniss of Toronto, Ontario, and Kathleen Patmore and her husband Ralph of Surrey, BC and numerous nieces and nephews. Prayers and viewing for the family will be a held at the Life Point Church in Lanigan on Sunday Aug 2/15 at 6:00pm and from 7pm to 9pm for the public. The Funeral Service will be held in LifePoint Church, Lanigan, SK on Monday August 3rd at 2:00 p.m. For those so wishing, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the LifePoint Youth Fusion through the LifePoint Church in Lanigan.
