Giovannina Maria Rose Lombardi, 101, of New Castle, passed away the afternoon of July 26, 2015 at her residence. Born on November 6, 1913 in Statigliano, Italy, she was the daughter of the late Antonio and Maria DiMatteo Cunti. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Peter Antonio Lombardi, who passed away in January 1996.

Giovannina was a member of St. Vincent DePaul Parish. She loved to cook, but her greatest joy came from spending time with her family.

Giovannina is survived by her children, Maria Laurenza of New Castle, Anna Fazzone and husband Antonio of Dragoni, Italy, and Antonio Lombardi and wife Rose of Switzerland; grandchildren, Rosaria Laurenza-Diaz and husband Luigi of San Diego, CA, Jo Anna Laurenza of New Castle, Anna Laurenza of New Castle, Robert Lombardi and wife Janine of Switzerland, and Pasquale Fazzone of Dragoni, Italy; and great-grandchildren, Kia'Vonna, Petie, Amari, Maria, Angelina, Adrianna, Serena, Gioia, and Nevio. In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her grandson, Luca Laurenza Jr., sons, Antonio and Domenico Lombardi, and five sisters.

Visitation will be held Thursday from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 941 S Mill St. A procession will leave the funeral home Friday at 9:30am to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am at St. Vincent DePaul Church.

Interment will take place at Castleview Memorial Gardens.
