Ms. Gwendolyn Gurley

Minister Gwendolyn Gurley transitioned to Glory on Monday July 27th in her son and daughter’s home in Fairview Heights, Illinois surrounded by family after a heroic battle with cancer; she was 67 years old. “Minister Gurley was born in Tabernacle Village in St. Kitts B.W.I, on May 15th 1948; she was the daughter of Elizabeth Henry & Stanley Gilbert who both preceded her in death. She survived by Jesus Christ and her 5 sons and 2 daughters David, Elroy, Ruth, Angerla, Norman, Paul, Glenvil. She also survived by fourteen grandchildren (Akai, LaMarcus, Eric, Lemuel, Ezra, Kayla, Diquan, Amber, Kiana, Norman Jr., Corey, G’ayani, Ga’Liyah and Santino); also 2 great grandchildren (Akaila & Noah). Minister Gurley was the 4th in line of 11 siblings (Josephine, Simeon, Catherine, Cedric, Eustace, Frances, Cecil, Eldred, Irvin and Patricia.) After moving from St. Thomas, U.S.V.I. in 1989 to make a better life for her children, she worked in the hotel business and the elementary school system until she finally retired in 2013; this then allowed her to follow her heart’s desire and work in fulltime ministry with the Power of Faith Ministries. Her heart’s desire was to devote every waking hour to God’s service in Intercessory Prayer, Outreach, Food pantry, Prison ministry, Hospital visitations, radio broadcasting, choir directing, Women’s Ministry leader and fulltime evangelism. She had a heart for young people and she was always there to pray them through life’s difficulties, she also loved to sing, pray, teach & preach the uncompromising word of God. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Services will begin at 1100am on Aug 8th at New Life Worship Center in Miramar Florida.
