Kathleen Taylor

Kathleen Ellen Robinson Taylor passed away on Monday, July 27, 2015. She was born January 24, 1921 to William and Rose Robinson. She and her eight siblings grew up on the family farm in the Pine Creek area of Russell County, Virginia. Kathleen graduated from Honaker High School, received her A.S. Degree from Lincoln Memorial University and her B.S. degree from Emory and Henry College. She was a United States Navy Wave Veteran, having served during World War II and she was a retired public school teacher completing thirty-four years of service. An active member of Honaker First United Methodist Church, she served on numerous committees. She contributed long hours and hard work to projects that exemplifies her passion of preserving history for future generations, and the completed works include: The Heritage of Russell County Vol. I & Vol. II, A Tribute to World War II Veterans of Russell County Virginia, and her book, They Say. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Aubrey June; brothers, Harvey, Bill, Cecil, Hughes “Hoot”, Ralph, Andy sister, Helen, and her special niece Joanne Miller (Pill). Survivors include one sister, Blanche Wade, sister-in-law, Helen Robinson; son, Harry, daughter, Teresa; granddaughters, Paige and Kolby and her precious twin great-grandchildren, Hayden and Kolby. Other survivors include several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at the Honaker Funeral Home on Saturday, August 1 from 11 AM- 1 PM and a Celebration of Life will be conducted at 1 PM in the Chapel with Rev. Aaron Atchley officiating. Interment will follow in the Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill, Virginia. Pallbearers include representatives of her sibling’s families and the Barrett family: Allen Sargent, George Robinson, Jim Broderick, Steve Robinson, Larry Plaster, Charles Robinson, Robert Robinson, and Lloyd Barrett. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Honaker Heritage Museum, Box 553, Honaker, Va. 24260 Online condolences may be made at www.honakerfuneralhome.net.
