Former Edinburg resident, Jean Marie Conti Simpson, 79, returned to her heavenly home on July 15, 2015 following an extended illness. Her devotion to her family and her firm belief in God supported her in her struggle and ultimately gave her peace.

Jean was born to the late Lester and Margaret Hendryx Plotts in Coudersport, PA on April 5, 1936. She was immersed in the Christian community that would be her lifelong support from an early age. She was a member of the Christian Missionary & Alliance Church in New Wilmington, PA. She had worked at Mounts Bakery, J.C. Horton Realty, Poland Countryside, Goldstein’s, and Haney’s Furniture stores. Her most recent job was at Wal-Mart.

Jean was blessed with a large and loving family. She married Jess D. Conti in 1953 the father of her children who preside her. From the very beginning, she dedicated her children to God and encouraged them in their own faith. She then married Irvin (Ted) Slater who preceded her in death in 1997 and Paul Simpson who also preceded her in death in 2010.

Jean was an outgoing and optimistic person who was an encourager at heart. She was kind and saw the best in others. She loved to travel and going out to eat and having raviolis at Pagley’s Restaurant.

Jean in survived by her son, Randal D. Conti Sr. and wife Tammi of New Castle, PA; daughters, Deborah Mancini and husband Gary of New Castle, PA, Sharon Cascavilla of New Castle, PA, and Michele Hunt and husband Gary of Corry, PA; stepdaughter, Gail Simpson of New Castle, PA; stepson, Gregg Simpson of Hickory, NC; brothers, James Plotts and wife Betty of Coudersport, PA, R. Robert Plotts and wife Yvonne of New Castle, PA, and Wayne Plotts and wife Marilyn of New Castle, PA; sister, Marjorie “Sally” Vesco of New Castle, PA; grandchildren, Fred Cascavilla and wife Kelly, Brad Cascavilla and fiancée Marlene McAllister, Justin Cascavilla and fiancée Ashley Parrish, Melissa Joyce and husband Allen, Gary Mancini Jr., Randy Conti Jr. and wife Sonya, Michael Conti and fiancée Ashley Shields, Michele Buccelli, Travis Hunt, and Logan Hunt; and many great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents and son-in-law, Gerald “Bubbles” Cascavilla.

Since October of 2012, the Haven Convalescent Home has been her home where she was cared for by many great people along with Gentiva Hospice who were all considered her family.

Visitation will be held Sunday from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 3000 Wilmington Rd. Services will be conducted Monday at 11:00am at the funeral home, conducted by Reverend John Grusendorf of Christian Missionary and Alliance Church of New Wilmington, PA.

She will be buried in Volant Cemetery.
