Audie Rice Obituary

Audie Elizabeth Rice, age 101, Flag Pond, went to be with the Lord on Friday, July 10, 2015. Mrs. Rice was a lifelong resident of Unicoi County and a daughter of the late Cal and Cordelia Stockton Tipton. She was a cook for the old Flag Pond School and was employed for several years by Morrill Electric at Rocky Fork. Mrs. Rice was a member of Upper Rice Creek Baptist Church which was always dear to her heart. She also attended Evergreen Free Will Baptist Church after she moved to Erwin. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Grady Rice in August 1969; three brothers and three sisters. Mrs. Rice leaves behind to cherish her memories two sons: Grady Carson Rice and wife, Hughette S. of Augusta, Georgia; Roger Rice, and wife, Marie of Flag Pond; one daughter, Norma Rice Lambert and husband, Jerry of Ringgold, Georgia; one sister, Lou Tipton Shelton of Jonesborough; six grandchildren: Wayne Rice, Jeff Lambert, Laura Henning, Marlene Coates, Julia Lambert Dawson and Bryan Rice; eight great grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive. The family will receive friends from 5:00 P. M. until the hour of service Sunday, July 12, 2015 from the Robert Ledford Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Craig Shelton and Bob Cooper will officiate at the 7:00 P. M. funeral service. Music will be provided by Ashlyn Elizabeth Henning and Inez Chandler. Pallbearers will be family and friends of Mrs. Rice whom she had been an inspiration to during her 101 years. The committal service will be at 12:00 noon Monday, July 13, 2015 in the Upper Rice Creek Cemetery. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 11:45 A. M. Monday. Flowers will be accepted or those wishing may make memorial contributions to the Clinchfield Senior Adult Center, 220 Union Street, Erwin, TN 37650.
