Kevin Breckenmaker Obituary

Kevin Eric Breckenmaker, 58, of Hershey, passed away suddenly on Thursday, July 9, 2015. Born in Hershey on November 15, 1956, he was the son of W. Wayne Breckenmaker husband of Shirley Nace Breckenmaker of Hershey and the late Minnie D’Ambrosio Breckenmaker. Kevin was a proprietor and manager of the former Rosie’s East End Restaurant, Hummelstown, and was currently employed with UPS Logistic Supply Company. He was a 1974 graduate of Bishop McDevitt High School before continuing his education in business at Harrisburg Area Community College. Kevin was a member of Tetelestai Church, New Kensington. An avid cyclist and rower, Kevin was a member of the US Rowing Association, the Susquehanna Rowing Association, and ERA Cycling of Lancaster, and a former member of the Yellow Breeches Cycling Club of Carlisle, and the Harrisburg Cycling Club. In 2012, he raced in the UCI CYCLO-CROSS World Championship, in his age class, and was registered to race again this year. In addition to cycling and rowing, he enjoyed sculling, eating chocolate, and visiting people. Kevin loved to visit family, friends and acquaintances, taking them homemade soup, pies, cookies or any other food he knew they enjoyed. He was a wonderful and charismatic man who enjoyed life and the people around him. He is survived by his father and step mother; his beloved wife of 13 years, Sherry L. Reed Breckenmaker, whom he married on March 8, 2002; a daughter, Cherish L. Diviney of Pittsburgh; two step sons, Nicholas C. Caffas husband of Allison of Pittsburgh and Andrew S. Caffas husband of Joy of Columbus, IN; a brother, Alan L. Breckenmaker husband of Sandra L. of Palmyra; a sister, Tami Garis Radecke wife of Mark W. of Waynesboro, VA; two grandchildren, Emy Lynn Diviney and Zayne Eric Diviney; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his mother, Kevin was preceded in death by a brother, Brian M. Breckenmaker. Funeral service will be held Monday, July 13, 2015, at 1 PM in Grace United Methodist Church, 433 East Main Street, Hummelstown, with The Rev. John A. Schaefer and The Rev. David D. Biser, officiating. Interment will be in Hummelstown Cemetery. Friends will be received for the viewing on Monday in the church from 11 AM until time of the service. Trefz & Bowser Funeral Home, Inc., 114 West Main Street, Hummelstown, is handling the arrangements.
