James D Schall

James D. “Jim” “Betchek” Schall, 81, of Clarence, passed away on Thursday, July 9, 2015 at the Hershey Medical Center. Born on May 19, 1934, in Clarence, he was the son of the late Joseph and Mary Jozefick Schall, Sr. On October 18, 1958, in Snow Shoe; he married Rita A. Krokoski, who survives at home. Jim attended the Clarence School. He was a devout member of the Queen of Archangel Roman Catholic Parish Church in Clarence. His first job was a miner in a coal mine in Grampian. He then went to work at JH France Refractories. He left the brick yard to enlist in the United States Army. After his military service, he went back to work at the brick yard and retired in 1992. He was also the co-owner of the Mt. View TV Cable System until its closing. Jim was enlisted in the United States Army from 1954 until 1962 where he earned the rank of SP 3. He received Army Occupation Medal for his service in Germany and the Good Conduct Medal Jim was a member of the Clarence American Legion Post #813 and the Twin Hollow Hunting Camp. He enjoyed watching baseball, especially the Pittsburgh Pirates, and football, especially Pittsburgh Steelers. He attended Mass every day and then would take his riding mower and drive to the field where he did some farming. Before the death of Cassie, his dog, she would ride to the field with Jim in the cart. Jim was very sociable. He enjoyed sitting on his porch, talking to Butchie, Francie, and anyone else that would come along. He loved people, always had a smile, and being in the outdoors. Jim loved his family but absolutely adored his grandchildren. They were the love of his life. Jim is survived by his wife of 56 years, children; Jim S. Schall and his wife, Claudia, of Clarence, David C. Schall and his companion, Char Grover, of Winston-Salem, NC, and Coleen M. Reese and her husband, Donald, of Clarence. Also surviving are seven grandchildren; Trevor Schall, Dillon Schall, Tyler Schall, Jenna Reese, Matthew Reese, Megan Reese, and Mason Reese, one brother, Edward “Butchie” Schall and his wife, Regina, of Clarence, two sisters; Janey Matseur and her husband, Harry, of New Jersey and Sophie Cingle and her husband, Joseph, of Clarence. Along with his parents, Jim was preceded in death by four brothers; Stanley, George, John, and Joseph, Jr. and two sisters; Mary Caldana and Theresa Rogus. Family and friends will be received on Sunday, July 12, 2015 from 2-4 & 6-8pm with a rosary service at 7:45pm at the Daughenbaugh Funeral Home, in Snow Shoe. Funeral Mass will be on Monday, July 13, 2015 at 11am at the Queen of Archangel Roman Catholic Parish Church in Clarence with Father Mark R. Reid officiating. Burial will follow at St. Michael’s Catholic Cemetery in Clarence with full military honors. Memorial contributions can be made to the Queen of Archangel Roman Catholic Parish Church, 102 Church St. Clarence, PA 16829. Arrangements have been entrusted to Daughenbaugh Funeral Home, 106 W.
