Forest Strickler Obituary

Forest L. Strickler, 71, of Avilla, IN, formerly of Decatur, passed away at Parkview Regional Medical Center on Tuesday, July 7, 2015. Forest was born in Adams County on January 6, 1944 to Florence Roudebush and the late Harold Strickler. Forest was a member of American Legion Post #240 in Avilla, as well as the VFW post #6236 in Decatur. He was a member of the US Army. Forest is survived by his mother, Florence Roudebush of Fort Wayne, his son Robin (Deborah) Strickler of Ohio City, OH, three daughters, Daphne (Joe) Milakovic of Grayslake, IL, Melissa (Wendell) Parker of Avilla, and Amy (Jim) Moeschberger of Monroe. He is also survived by two brothers, Clayton (Sharon) Strickler of Leesburg, IN, and William Strickler of Fort Wayne, as well as one sister, Vickie Kirk, of Fort Wayne and 10 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by one son, John Strickler, one daughter, Adela Hunter, and his father, Harold Strickler. Visitation will take place from 4 p.m. – 8 p.m. on Friday, July 10 and 1 hour prior to services on Saturday, July 11. Funeral services will be at Haggard-Sefton & Hirschy Funeral Home on July 11, 2015 at 10 a.m. Officiating will be Rev. Brent Liechty. Burial will follow in Ray Cemetery, Monroe, IN. Memorials may be made to American Legion Post #240, Wounded Warrior Project, or St. Jude’s Hospital.
