STANLEY WAYNE WEAVER Stanley Wayne Weaver, age 85, of Sidney, NE, passed away Saturday morning, July 4, 2015 in the Golden Living Center. Memorial Services will be at 10:30 A.M., Friday, July 10th in the Christian Life Center with Pastor Jim Gerhold officiating. Inurment will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery with Military Honors. Friends may stop at the Gehrig-Stitt Chapel Thursday to sign Stanley’s register book and to drop off condolences for the family. Memorial contributions may be made in Stanley’s name to the Christian Life Center or to the Donor’s choice. Stanley Wayne Weaver was born in Hemingford, NE on July 22, 1929 to parents Melure and Nellie (Zimmerman) Weaver. Stanley spent his early years living in Alliance, NE. Later the family moved near Colton, NE where he attended elementary school until the family relocated to Sidney where he attended the Francis Willard School. On February 19, 1951 Stanley was called to serve his country in the U.S. Army, stationed in the states and Korea and served as an infantry truck driver. He was Honorably Discharged in 1952, receiving the Korean Service Medal with two bronze service stars and the United Nations Service Medal. In 1959 he was united in marriage to Gertrude Zielke, they celebrated fifty-five years together. Stan worked for Inlund Construction, Porter Oil Company, as a custodian at Sidney High School and retired from Burlington Northern Railroad following sixteen years of service. He was on the bowling league for many years, attended the Christian Life Center and was a member of the V.F.W. Stanley is survived by his wife: Gertrude, (1) sister: Patricia Beeken of Cheyenne, WY; (1) sister-in-law: Marge Weaver of North Platte, NE and numerous nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his father and mother: Melure and Nellie Weaver, (1) brother: Guy Weaver, (4) sisters and their husbands: Ruth and Richard Ferguson, Reah and Claude Chambers, Freda and Earl Anson and Lylus and Barnard Linden and brother-in-law: Leslie Beeken.
