L. Agnes Grooms, age 94, passed away Wednesday, July 1, 2015, in the Agape Nursing & Rehab Center, Johnson City. She was a native of Lincolnton, Georgia and had lived most of her life in Deland, Florida before making her home with her daughter in Johnson City twelve years ago. Mrs. Grooms was a daughter of the late Peter Alexander Wellmaker and Clara Lellia Paradise Wellmaker. She was employed by the Florida Power & Light Corporation as secretary for thirty-five years. Mrs. Grooms was a member of the First Baptist Church of Deland. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Franklin Grooms in 1995, five siblings and her son-in-law, William Robert Manuel. Mrs. Grooms has left behind to cherish her memories her daughter, June Manuel of Johnson City; four grandchildren: April Hawkins and husband, Shane; Robert Mitchell Manuel and wife, Stana, all of Erwin; Michael Brian Manuel and wife, Kimberly of Johnson City; Kevin Brett Manuel and wife, Krista of Kingsport; three great grandchildren: Halie Nichole Hawkins, Colton Zackary Hawkins and Madalyn Brielle Manuel. Several nieces and nephews also survive. The family will receive friends Monday, July 6, 2015 from 5:00 P. M. until the hour of service at the Robert Ledford Funeral Home Chapel. Dr. Chris Bogart will deliver the Eulogy at the 7:00 P. M. service. Music will be provided by Danny and Christy Miller and Inez Chandler. Burial will be Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at 10:30 A. M. in the Deland Memorial Gardens, 600 East Beresford Avenue, Deland, Florida 32724.
