Jane Jones Obituary

Jane Margaret “Peggy” Jones passed away on June, 23, 2015 at Pen Bay Medical Center. She was born on June 30, 1926 to the late Herald A. Jones and Dorothy Hanna Redmond Jones in Rochester, New York. Peggy lived her childhood in Springfield, New Jersey and summered in Friendship, Maine. She Graduated from the Jonathan Dayton Regional High School in Springfield New Jersey. Peggy went on and attended college, graduating from Wellsley College in 1948, and then went on and received a Master’s Degree in Health and Physical Education in 1949. She taught Physical Education in Bane, Vermont; Evanston, Wyoming; Wellsville, New York; Burlington, Vermont; Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Windom, Maine; and Buckston, Maine. Peggy worked two years as a Red Cross Recreation worker in military hospitals. She also worked twelve years at Pineland Center for the developmentally disabled and then retired in 1986. She was also an active volunteer for the local humane society. She also enjoyed music for recreation. She is survived by her brother, Bruce Redmond Jones of Waldoboro; a niece, Sharon Jones Derby of Newsoms, Virginia; a nephew, Richard Harris Jones and wife, Lori, with daughter, Madison Jones, all of Newsoms, Virginia; and many cousins. There will be no service at this time.
