Arlene Luskin, age 91 of Ludington, passed away Tuesday, June 30, 2015 at Spectrum Health – Butterworth Campus in Grand Rapids. She was born July 16, 1923, daughter of the late Martin and Antonia (Yeck) Polcin. Arlene graduated from Ludington High School and Central Michigan University with a master’s degree in education. She began her teaching in Fruitport and then taught in Ludington for 33 years before retiring in 1988. Arlene was married to Edward Luskin and he preceded her in death August 25, 1955. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America and St. Simon Church. Arlene is survived by her daughter, Carol (Tom) Settles of Rockford; son, David Luskin of Ludington; sister, Mabel Polcin of Ludington; sisters-in-law, Judy Polcin and Lucille Polcin both of Ludington; brother-in-law, Albert Kacynski of Ludington; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edward; brothers, Raymond, Lawrence and Joseph; and sister, Lorraine Kacynski. The funeral mass of resurrection will be held at 4:00PM on Friday July 3, at St. Simon Catholic Church with Father Wayne Wheeler celebrant. The family will receive friends for visitation on Thursday July 2, from 2:00-4:00PM. at Oak Grove Funeral Home and again on Friday afternoon at the church from 3:00PM until time of funeral mass. Burial will follow at Pere Marquette Catholic Cemetery in Ludington and a luncheon will be held immediately afterward back at the St. Simon Family Center.
