Edward Carl Wegner passed away Monday, June 29th, 2015 at Columbia Basin Care Center of The Dalles, Oregon. Ed was born on April 21, 1924 in Cameron, Idaho to Carl Wegner and Anna Meyer. Ed had two sisters, Mickey Hansen and Sally Hoffman. Ed married Charmaine Ione Arnegard on May 19th 1951 and began their married life in Great Falls Montana. Ed’s jobs took them to Boise, Lake Oswego, and Portland, while in Portland they bought a beautiful property above Lyle and created Golden Oaks. It was here that they built a concrete cabin and shared their dream with friends and family. Ed enjoyed building, golf and cross country skiing. Due to health concerns Ed and Charmaine moved to The Dalles in 1997. Ed is survived by his wife Charmaine, his daughters Camille and Marcella and son Steve. Ed’s eldest son Brad died in 1994. Ed has four grandchildren - Megan Merenda, Kyle Wegner, Charmaine Yeates and Kris Olsen. Ed also has three granddaughters - Sophia, Lilly and Stella. Ed was predeceased by his eldest son Brad in 1994, his sister Mickey in 2012 and sister, Sally also in 2012. Graveside Services are (or were held) planned for 10:00 a.m., Thursday, July 2nd, 2015 at the Lyle Balch Cemetery (on SR14, just west of the Klickitat River and Lyle, turn onto the Old Hwy 8, following the signs to Appleton. Proceed on this road for 1 mile. The Appleton Road now goes to the right, so go straight ahead, staying on the Old Highway 8 for another 3 miles, and turn right onto Balch Road where you see the sign to Lyle-Balch Cemetery. The cemetery is on this road just a short distance ahead on the left.).
