Mona D Lapane, who was born February 11, 1940, died late Sunday, June 28, 2015, at Coves Edge, four and a half months after being diagnosed with cancer. She was courageous and unafraid throughout the ordeal. Daughter of the late Ara and Velma (Seamans) Black, she was a graduate of Brewer (Me.) High School. Mona was a lifelong resident of Bristol, CT and had also lived in Newport RI, and in Bristol, ME at the end of her life. She had worked for the Bristol Board of Education, Raphael's Department Store, and Bristol Savings Bank. She leaves behind her daughter and best friend Bethany Ludwick and son in law, Jonathan Ludwick of Bristol Maine, her son and daughter in law, Bradford and Marissa Lapane of Bristol Connecticut, and son, Matthew Ara Lapane of Plainville Connecticut. Mona also leaves behind her two beautiful and much loved grandsons, Bryce and Carson Lapane, sons of Bradford and Marissa. Known for her love of life and of others, her kindness and compassion, her gentleness and strength, Mom will be missed so very much by those who loved her and knew her best. A private service and burial will be held Thursday in Newport, RI. A public celebration Mass of Mona’s life will be held on August 4th, 10:00 am at Our Lady of Mercy Church located on Broad Street in Plainville Connecticut. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mona’s name to the Lincoln County Animal Shelter , PO Box 7, Edgecomb, ME 04556. Hall’s of Waldoboro has care of the arrangements.
