James Brown Obituary

James Hiram Brown, Age 70 of Manistee died Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at his home. He was born on October 4, 1944 in Detroit, MI the son of the late Robert A. & Florence M. (Standeven) Brown. He was a graduate of Edwin Derby High School in Detroit and was a veteran of the United States Coast Guard. He married Sheryl K. Schramm on May 5, 1990 at Faith Reformed Church in Traverse City. James had been employed a mechanic by Domres Construction and retired from Seng’s Marina in October of 2010. He also had owned and operated Hi-Tec Diesel in Traverse City. He loved to spend time with family and friends, going out on the lake with the boat, and working on boats. Survivors include his wife; Sheryl Kay Brown of Manistee, one son; Adam C. Brown of Glacier, WA, one daughter; Ashley Marie Brown of Manistee, three sisters; June Leone White, Robert Elaine (Edward) Maconochie, and Florence Charlotte (Frank) Lucido, and sister-in-law; Judith Brown. Nieces and nephews also survive. He was also preceded in death by two brothers; Jack & Thomas Brown, a sister; Margaret Katherine Noonan, and two brothers-in-law; Donald White & John Patrick Noonan. Memorial Services for James H. Brown will be held Saturday, June 27, 2015 at 3:00 PM at the Oak Grove Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Manistee with Tim Fauble officiating. Military Honors will follow by the Manistee United Veterans Council Honor Guard and the United States Coast Guard. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 2:00 PM until time of service. Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society’s Hope Lodge in Grand Rapids.
