David Shellenhamer

David J. Shellenhamer, 56, passed away with his loving wife by his side, June 17, 2015, at NIH in Bethesda, MD, after a courageous ten year battle with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia and all its complications. He was preceded in death by his mother, Sarah Shull Shellenhamer, and survived by his father, Edwin Shellenhamer of Middletown. He leaves his wife Judith Uber Shellenhamer and loving son Brian M. Crum (Laura) to carry on. He was a loving Pappy to his grandchildren, Makenzie Crum, Karli MacDougall, and Tristan Crum, and step grandchildren, Eli and Mackenzie Strohecker. He is also survived by his son, Ryan Colatta and granddaughter Olivia; brothers, Ken and Bart Shellenhamer both of Middletown; sister, Lora Laverty of Pittsburgh and her two children, Shannon and Kyle. Dave graduated in 1976 from Middletown High School, and received his Associates Degree from HACC. He was the owner of Penn State Expo Services, and former co-owner of Lawntown Court Pizzeria. Dave served as both coach and officer for the Lawnton Athletic Association and Swatara Township Teeners Baseball Association. He was a huge supporter of the Lawnton area and Lawnton Fire Company which he loved, along with the Londonderry Fire Company. Dave loved playing and watching all sports and was an avid Baltimore Ravens fan. He enjoyed bowling for many years prior to his illness. He will be remembered by all for his courage and will to fight a disease that no one should endure. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, July 18, 2015, at 12:00 noon in Calvary United Methodist Church, 4700 Locust Lane, Harrisburg. Visitation will be from 11:00 am until 12:00 noon in the church. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions be made to Vickie’s Angel Foundation, 511 Bridge Street, New Cumberland, PA 17070 (www.vickiesangelfoundation.org)
