Ethel Starks Obituary

Mrs. Ethel Bell Starks October 7, 1945 – June 15, 2015 Mrs. Ethel Bell Starks, age 69, of Griffin, GA, passed away on Monday, June 15, 2015 at Henry Piedmont Hospital in Stockbridge. Mrs. Ethel Bell Starks was born on October 7, 1945 to her proud parents, Otis & Ethel Blanche Mullins in Spalding County. Everyone fondly called her ‘Bell’, and she exemplified the qualities of a bell by always chiming God’s word of wisdom, comfort, and encouragement to everyone that she would meet. Bell flourished a strong, personal, and loving relationship with our Father God, and she did not mind sharing God’s splendid joys and rewards that He placed in her life. At an early age, Bell joined Red Oak Methodist Church in the Birdie Community. Later, she diligently served as a member of Antioch Baptist Church for over 30 years as an usher and on the Nursing Guild. In her later years, she faithfully fellowshipped at the Rising Star Missionary Baptist Church. Most of all, she fulfilled her Christian obligation by kindly assisting others, freely giving, and boldly sharing God’s Holy word. Bell attended school in Spalding Co. graduating from Fairmont High School in the Class of 1963. She was employed at United Cotton Goods for a number of years and afterwards, at Snapper until her retirement in July 2014. She obtained ultimate joyful fulfillment by maintaining an active daily routine of good health and fitness by daily meditating, exercising, walking, cooking and eating healthy foods. Bell had a special love for her family and friends especially her daughters and grandchildren. She was a quiet giant that desired to Minister God’s word to her family, friends, or whoever would lend an ear to listen. Bell was quiet, humble, and peaceful, yet she was independent, hardworking, orderly, and demanded the same courtesy and respect that she so kindly administered to others. However, she is best known for her positive inspiring words of comfort, encouragement, and spiritual love for everyone that she would encounter. She was a faithful child of God that was overflowing with wisdom and love. Bell was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. & Mrs. Otis & Ethel Blanche Miller-Mullins; Grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. Remar (Mary) Miller; Siblings, Ester Lee Mullins-Willis, Marguerite & Margueruth Mullins (Twins), Otis Lee Mullins Jr., Robert Lewis Mullins, and Herman Lee Mullins. In Bell’s sweet heavenly transition, she leaves to cherish her fond loving memories two daughters, Ms. Leslie Cosby, Rex, GA and Mrs. Yolanda Michelle Starks-Murray (Marc), Locust Grove, GA; four grandchildren, Jasmine Murray, Locust Grove, GA, Jamel Cosby, Jamarkus Cosby, and Shantel Cosby, Rex, GA; one sister, Emma Louise Simmons (King David), Killeen, TX; two brothers, Joseph O. Mullins, Memphis, TN and Harold Frank Mullins, Griffin, GA; one uncle, Mr. Freeman Miller, and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends. Funeral Services for Mrs. Ethel Bell Starks will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2015 at noon in the chapel of Heritage Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Griffin Memorial Gardens. Friends may visit the family on Friday, June 19, 2015, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
