Donald Street, Sr., age 87, passed away Monday, June 15, 2015. He was born September 24, 1927 in Rowe, Va. to the late Hattie and Dewey Street. Besides his parents, Don was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Joan (Hale) Street and his brothers, Denver Street and Elmer (Doc) Street. Don is survived by his son, Donald Street, Jr. and his wife, Nancy, and their two daughters, Leslie (Terry) Woodall and Kelley Street, all of Nashville, TN. Don is also survived by his brother-in –law, Jerald Hale, and sister-in-law, Donna (J.C.) Hale, all of Council, VA. Don was a member and former Deacon of Rosedale Baptist Church in Rosedale, VA. Don will be remembered as an easygoing gentleman who liked to talk to everyone and he easily developed friendships with many. Don was an entrepreneur throughout his working career, which included trucking coal, building homes, and owning and managing the Hilltop Restaurant and Motel in Richlands, VA and the Rainbow Restaurant and Vansant Motel in Vansant, VA. The family wants to express their appreciation to Don’s friends and caregivers for their friendship and support over the past four years at Belmont Village in Nashville, TN. Visitation will be held at 6 PM on Wednesday, June 17, 2015 at the Honaker Funeral Home in Honaker, VA and a graveside service will be held for family and friends at 10 AM on Thursday, June 18, 2015 at Greenhills Memory Gardens Mausoleum in Claypool Hills, VA the following day.
