Paul Whitmer Obituary

Paul E. Whitmer, 56, of Middletown, went home to the Lord Wednesday, June 10, 2015, in the Carolyn Croxton Slane Hospice Residence in Linglestown. Born at home in Lower Swatara Township, Paul was the son of the late Paul M. and Mable I. (Heisey) Whitmer. He was a graduate of Middletown Area High School and held two Associate Degrees from Harrisburg Area Community College. Paul retired disabled in 2012 from Delta Dental. He was an attendee of the Hershey Free Church. He is survived by three sisters: Paulette Gilbert of Canonsburg, Jane Stokes, and Joyce Barnhart of Enola, and his wife of 25 years, Doris Whitmer and children: Daniel Whitmer of Harrisburg, Corrie Whitmer of Pittsburgh (at Carnegie Mellon University) and Aubrey Whitmer at home. Paul was a devoted husband and father and loved music and playing his guitar. He was a published author and had a love for obscure facts and had an almost encyclopedic memory. Those who knew him best knew he loved to joke and pun. A memorial service celebrating Paul’s life will be held on Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at 3 PM in the Hershey Free Church, 330 Hilltop Road, Hummelstown, with The Rev. Ray Hock officiating. Friends will be received by the family following the service. Trefz & Bowser Funeral Home, Inc., 114 West Main Street, Hummelstown, is handling the arrangements. Those desiring may send memorial contributions to the Carolyn Croxton Slane Hospice Residence, c/o Hospice of Central Pennsylvania, 1320 Linglestown Road, Harrisburg, PA 17110.
