Mr. Charles Wayne “Chuck” Shirley, age 84, a resident of Pineville, MS passed away on Friday June 5, 2015 at the Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson, MS. Visitation will be held on Sunday June 7, 2015 from 2:30 PM until 5:00 PM at Wolf Funeral Services in Morton, MS and again on Monday June 8, 2015 from 1:00 PM until 1:50 PM at Sylvarena Baptist Church in Raleigh, MS. Burial will follow in the Leaf River Baptist Cemetery in Louin, MS. Officiating will be Rev. Rusty Stockman. Wolf Funeral Services in Morton, MS will be in charge of the arrangements. Mr. Shirley has lived in Pineville, MS for the past 32 years formerly living in Jackson, MS and living in various locations during his tenure in the Air Force. He was a member of the Sylvarena Baptist Church in Raleigh, MS. He was a 1950 graduate of Pineville High School where he was Valedictorian of his class. He then entered the U.S. Air Force where he served his country for 20 years, retiring in 1970. After his military service he worked for the U.S. Postal Service in Jackson, MS in the processing center for 20 years. He enjoyed the outdoors, working in his yard and woodworking. Mr. Shirley is preceded in death by his parents, C.E. & Norene Shirley; three sisters, Doris Nelson, Viva Simmons, Linda Krawl; two brothers, Davis Shirley and Freddie Shirley; one great grandchild, Jacob Dyess. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy “Dot” Shirley of Pineville, MS; three daughters, Cindy Ray of Tulsa, OK, Cynthia Everett of Ellisville, MS, Brenda Howington of Wesson, MS; one son, David Shirley of Ocean Springs, MS; one sister, Merian Bailey of Brandon, MS; two brothers, Tommie Shirley of Columbia, SC, Hal Shirley of Crystal Springs, MS; ten grandchildren, ten great grandchildren; a number of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
