Robert Wegryn Obituary

Robert “Bob” Thomas Wegryn, 58, of Coventry passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Monday May 25, 2015. He was born in Bridgeport, CT to the late Robert J. and Hazel Wegryn, and spent his childhood in Stratford, CT, before moving to Wellesley, MA and eventually settling back in CT. Bob is survived by his high school sweetheart and loving wife of 40 plus years, Victoria (Weis) Wegryn, his three children, Rebecca of Naples, FL, and Robert and Steven of Coventry, CT; his granddaughter Charlotte and second granddaughter on the way; Bob had many “other” children in his life, including Carlota Jorge of Barcelona, Spain; Mara Baker of Coventry, CT, and the countless friends of his children, that were always at his beck and call, and willing to help when needed. His brothers and sisters, Karen (Charlie) Hanchett, of Southwick, MA, Mark (Laurie) of Shrewsbury, MA, Susan Horan of Bradenton, FL, and Michael of Colorado; his deceased father’s wife Sally Wegryn of Englewood, FL, and several nieces and nephews. He is also predeceased by a few very dear friends including, John Sullivan, Lee Murphy and Freddy Ramos. Bob was a very proud, resourceful, and hardworking individual. He had many accomplishments throughout his life, including building a beautiful house for his family; which was a great source of enjoyment for family and friends. He was a very involved father, who would do anything for his kids. Bob was an accomplished glazier, and worked with the union, he was very proud of the many buildings that he worked on, including the clock tower at Eastern CT State University. He loved to be outdoors; fishing, boating, and hunting were among his favorite hobbies. Bob saw the worth in anything, as a kid he spent many hours searching the town dumps for treasures. His ingenuity was one of a kind, there was no problem he couldn’t solve. He will be dearly missed. A special thank you to all the staff at Hartford Hospital on Bliss 11 Step Down, for their care and compassion for Bob and our family. Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Friday, May 29, 2015 at the Coventry-Pietras Funeral Home, 2665 Boston Tpke. (Rte. 44) Coventry, CT 06238.
