Julia F. Pia

<p>Julia F. Pia, 90, of New Castle, passed away the morning of May 21, 2015 at her residence. Born on September 20, 1924 in New Castle, she was the daughter of Lorenzo and Antonetta Conti Temperato. On July 13, 1946, she married her beloved husband, Ralph (Paba) Pia, and the two spent over 43 wonderful years together until he preceded her in death on July 11, 1990. </p><p><br></p><p>Julia was a lifetime member and longtime cook at the Ladies of the Dukes and also cooked at Starwood Restaurant. She was a member of St. Vitus Church. She also belonged to the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary, Polish Falcons, and DSV Club. An avid walker and bus rider, Julia loved to take the bus to the casino and played bingo every week. Her greatest joy came from cooking and baking for her family and friends. </p><p><br></p><p>Julia is survived by her children, Carl Pia and wife Becky of Coraopolis, PA, Debra Pia-Mangino, and Clara Gwin, both of New Castle; seven granddaughters; and three great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by her brothers, Joe (Tempy) Temperato and Carl Temperato, and infant twin sisters. </p><p><br></p><p>Visitation will be held Friday from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 3000 Wilmington Rd. A blessing service will be conducted Saturday at 12:00pm at the funeral home, officiated by Pastor Marsha Parrish, hospice chaplain. </p><p><br></p><p>Interment will take place in St. Vitus Cemetery.</p>
