Ward Stephen Racey passed from this dimension due to cancer on May 14, 2015 at his home. Ward was born March 16, 1948 to Paul Milton and the late Kathleen (Dolly) Mitchell Racey. During his formative years, Ward participated in Boy Scouts and played basketball in school. He graduated in 1966 from Strasburg High School and later attended Bridgewater College. Ward was a Vietnam veteran, having served as a quartermaster aboard the United States Coast Guard Cutter Dallas (WHEC-716). After an honorable discharge, Ward was employed as a maintenance mechanic at Avtex Fibers in Front Royal and then became a production mechanic at General Electric in Winchester where he worked for 28 years. He subsequently worked for Holtzman and was later employed in the motor pool at Randolph Macon Academy in Front Royal where he worked until he became ill. Ward was a lifelong 1970 Mopar muscle car enthusiast and was appreciative of any other sport with an engine attached to it. Ward married Jennifer Louise Arnold on May 4, 1979. Ward is survived by his wife, daughters Cheyanne Racey of New York City, Paula Racey of Strasburg, Randi Racey of Winchester, his father and his sister, Kyna Daigle of Winchester. The family will hold an informal memorial gathering on October 14, 2015 from 6 PM to 8 PM at the Stonecrest Village Community Center at 415 Russelcroft Road, Winchester, Virginia.
