Hurley Meadows

Mr. Hurley Mays Meadows, age 86, of Rowe, Virginia, passed away Wednesday (May 13, 2015) at his home. Born November 12, 1928 in Buchanan County, Virginia, he was a son of the late Sylvester and Bertha Mae Stilwell Meadows. A lifelong resident of the area, he was a member of Guiding Light Freewill Baptist Church for thirty-seven years and a retired coal miner. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Velva C. Meadows, twin sons, Ronnie and Donnie Meadows, four sisters, and three brothers. Survivors include two sons, Virgil Meadows and wife, Lucille of Grundy, and Bobby Meadows and wife, Brenda of Mavisdale; two daughters, Shelby “Jeanie” Meadows Deel and husband, Estes of Meadowview and Jackie Charles and husband, Wayne of Honaker; one sister, Kathleen Smith; two brothers, Thurman Meadows and wife, Peggy, and Harvey Meadows and wife, Shirley; nine grandchildren, Rita Barnett, Linda Dye, Rochelle Reynolds, Jeremy Meadows, Jason Meadows, Justin Meadows, Robert Meadows, Kenny Meadows, Chevy Hawkenberry; great-grandchildren, Andrew Austin Meadows, Alexa Jade Barnett, Amber Meadows, Laken Meadows, Andrew Dye, Ria Dye, Staci Dye, Lilly O’Quinn, Gracie Meadows, Mariella Meadows, Abigail Meadows, Hunter Chase Reynolds, Dakota Hess, Destiny Hess, Warren Meadows, and Brentley Meadows. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Saturday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, Virginia, with Rev. Larry Robinson and Rev. Sonny Perkins officiating. Interment will follow in the Hess Cemetery on Miller Creek, Virginia. Pallbearers will be Andrew Meadows, Kenny Meadows, Robert Meadows, Jason Meadows, Justin Meadows, and Jessee Lester Friends may call at the Honaker Funeral Home after 6:00 PM Friday, where an evening service will be conducted at 7:00 PM with Rev.
