East Millinocket- Lorette Daigle Gagnon, 85, a devout Catholic, who is now with her Lord, passed away at a local hospital on Thursday, May 7, 2015 and has gone to join her husband, Val, who passed away on February 22, 2015. Lorette was born in Fort Kent on July 29, 1929, the daughter of Lucien and Helen (Thibodeau) Daigle. Lorette is survived by her children and their spouses, Bryan and Bernadette Gagnon of Eagle Lake, Gail and Don Helstrom, Ann Marie and Sterling Thompson, all of Medway, David and Marilyn Gagnon of Sterling, Massachusetts, and Darrell and Kim Gagnon of Mattamiscontis; her grandchildren, Melissa Gagnon and fiance Gene Michaud, Jason and Brittany Gagnon, Darrick and Stephanie Thompson, Erica and Jason Ingalls, Nicholas Gagnon, Shana and Chris Hull, Amanda and Rusty Dicker, and Joshua Gagnon and his partner Ashley Brunell; great grandchildren Logan Marie, Dylan, Landen, Kade, Jace, Cody, Morgan, Justin, Travis, Kylie, Ryan, Avery, Caroline, RJ, Jenna, and Adelynne; great great grandchildren Wyatt, Aylah Anne-Mae, and Isabella. She also leaves behind her two sisters, Evangeline(Angie) Michaud of CT, Yvette Bernard of Texas and a brother, Renauld (Boy) from Fort Kent, Maine. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and friends. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by 3 brothers, Hugh Daigle, Eldon (Pete) Daigle and Allen (Bee) Daigle all of Fort Kent. She was also predeceased by an infant great great grandson, Jaxon. Lorette was a very hard worker and quite a skilled seamstress. She made a lot of her children’s clothes when they were young and after they were gone from home, she started making crafts and quilts and attended many craft fairs from Fort Kent to Bangor. In her younger days, she used to pick potatoes in the fields around Fort Kent and she was such a fast picker, many people had a hard time keeping up with her. She also worked at Maryanne’s Market, a store owned by her son and daughter in law, Bryan and Bernadette. Lorette was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, and sister who loved her family. She was the center of her kitchen and entertained her family for many holiday meals. She also enjoyed entertaining family and friends with a great meal and usually some music performed by people she knew. Lorette was also a longtime member of St. Anne’s Circle #545 Daughters of Isabella. She was active and worked or cooked at many of their functions. After her husband retired, they spent the next 14 winters in Florida, and their summers at their summer cottage in Eagle Lake, Maine, where many good memories were made. Lorette enjoyed boating with her husband and planting flowers and vegetables in their gardens. Lorette will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Family and friends are invited to visit with the family on Sunday, May 10th from 4 to 7 at Lamson Funeral Home, 17 Western Avenue, East Millinocket. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 A.M. on Monday, May 11th at St. Peter’s Catholic Church of Christ the Divine Mercy Parish, 58 Cedar Street, East Millinocket, with the Rev. Bruce Siket, pastor,presider. Lorette and Valdor will be interred together immediately after the Mass at East Millinocket Cemetery. Gifts in memory of Lorette may be made to the Alzheimer Foundation or to a charity of your choice.
