FORT EDWARD John “Jack” Sears, 89, passed away on Thursday, May 7, 2015 at Albany Medical Center with his family by his side. Born January 23, 1926 in Albany, NY, he was the son of the late John and Catherine (Davis) Sears. Jack proudly served his country in the Unites States Navy during World War II. After leaving the service, he married the love of his life, Anita Catone, in St. Joseph’s Church in Fort Edward, NY. Jack was a letter carrier in Fort Edward for many years. He loved taking drives with Anita and filling his home with flowers. He could often be found shopping, and was known for telling his war stories. In addition to his parents, Jack was predeceased by his sisters; Harriet Catone and her husband Louis, Phyllis Roberts and her husband Edward, and Anne Terry and her husband Walt, his sisters-in-law; Mary Jane King and her husband Jack, Sylvia Durkin and her husband Tom, and Dolores Bardin and her husband Ben, as well as his in-laws, Joe “PaTone” and Jane “MaTone” Catone. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife Anita Sears, his niece Beth Bardin, his sister-in-law Sandra Collins and her husband Joe, as well as several nieces and nephews. Friends may call from 5-7pm on Sunday, May 10, 2015 at the M.B. Kilmer Funeral Home, 82 Broadway, Fort Edward, NY 12828. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10am on Monday, May 11, 2015 at St. Joseph’s Church, 164 Broadway, Fort Edward, NY. Rite of Committal will follow Mass at Union Cemetery in Fort Edward. Memorial Donations in Jack’s name can be made to The Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517 Topeka, Kansas 66675. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Jack’s caregivers, his nephews Paul Hendricks and David Catone, as well as “Cap” Garcia.
