Ronald D. Aspy, 79, of Decatur, died on Tuesday, May 5, 2015 at Woodcrest Nursing Center. Ron was born on March 28, 1936 in Allen County, IN to the late Gerald and Violet (Neireiter) Aspy. On September 6, 1958 he married Jane Laurent; she preceded him in death on April 20, 2012. Ron was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church. He was self-employed as a carpet layer and also worked for Fleetwood for 17 years. Survivors include his son, Steven D. (Robin) Aspy of Wolcottville, IN; a daughter Rhonda J. Aspy of Decatur; three grandsons, Taylor J, Devin S. and Chandler P. Aspy; step mother, Mearle Neireiter of Angola, IN; three brothers, Robert M. (Carol) Aspy of North Carolina, Lyle Stultz of California and Rick A. (Donna) Aspy of Angola, IN. He was preceded in death by a son, Cary Aspy on October 6, 2008, a sister and a brother. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, May 7, 2015 at Haggard-Sefton & Hirschy Funeral Home, with reciting of the Holy Rosary at 3:30 p.m. A 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, May 8th at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church with calling 1 hour prior in the St. Mary’s Parish Hall. Father David Voors will be officiating and burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Memorials are to St. Joseph Catholic School or Family Life Care.
