Richard P. Maley, 83, of Decatur, IN died Friday, May 1, 2015 at Adams Woodcrest. Richard was born on February 3, 1932 in Tuscola, IL to the late Virgil J. and Bonnie V. (Albin) Maley. On May 11, 1963 he married Doris E. Laker. She preceded him in death on July 29, 1998. Richard was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church and its Holy Name Society. He worked for Adams County Highway Dept. for 15 years and was a Deputy Sheriff for Adams County for 8 years. He is survived by a brother, Jerry Maley; three sisters-in-law, Myrna (Dick) Fravel, Eleanor Lengerich both of Decatur and Anna Hamill of Rushville. He was preceded in death by two brothers, William and John Maley and a sister, LaVerne Cooke. Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Monday, May 4, 2015 at Haggard-Sefton & Hirschy Funeral Home, with reciting of the Holy Rosary at 4:30 p.m. Calling also will be from 9-10:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 5th at St. Mary’s Parish Hall followed by a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church. Father David Voors will be officiating. Burial will be in St. Rose Catholic Cemetery, Monroeville. Memorials are to St. Mary’s BOOH or American Legion Post 43.
