Edith Anna Clark Hawk, a long time Atchison, Kansas resident passed away peacefully April 26th at the Atchison Senior Village. Visitation will be at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home, Atchison, Wednesday, April 29th from noon to 1 PM with services at 1 PM at the funeral home. Internment will follow the service. Edith was born October 6, 1915 in Falls City, Nebraska, one of three children. Edith attended grade school in Atchison and Effingham graduating from ACCHS in 1933. She was the last living member of her high school class. On March 24, 1934 she married Meredith Hawk of Effingham. As partners they ran the Hawk Hatchery for over 60 years. Edith was preceded in death by her husband, Meredith M. Hawk in 1976, a grandson, David Hawk, and son Clarence W. (Babe) Hawk in 2009. She is survived by sons Melvin (Alice), Leawood, KS, Larry (Marcia), Independence, MO, and Galen (Jamie), Topeka, KS, daughter Lois Hawk Snavely, Jefferson City, MO and daughter-in-law, Carole Curless Hawk. She will be fondly missed by her 10 grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 5 step great-grandchildren. She enjoyed travel which included bus trips and several cruises. Other interests included a long standing card group in Atchison, KU basketball and her computer. Edith was a 75 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star and a former member of the United Methodist church of Atchison.
