Gary Ball

Mr. Gary Lee Ball, age 65, of Lebanon, Virginia passed away Thursday (April 23, 2015) in a Lebanon, Virginia hospital. Born January 18, 1950 in Davenport, Virginia, he was a son of the late Elbert Walter and Ruby Patton Ball. He was a 1968 graduate of Council High School. He resided in Maryland for a few years after graduation, where he was employed as a welder for Standard Equipment Company. Upon his return to Southwest Virginia, he worked as a custodian for Buchanan County Public Schools. He enjoyed fishing, NASCAR Racing and especially gardening, but his greatest enjoyment was spending time with his family. He was a resident of Town and Country Adult Care Residence in Lebanon for many years and attended Hurricane Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Russell Ball, Donald Ball and Roger Ball and two sisters, Iris Foote and Betty Jo Ball. Survivors include one brother, Franklin D. Ball and wife, Linda of Lebanon, Virginia; one sister, Juanita Sue Wassum and daughter, Melissa of Elkton, Maryland; sister/niece, Tammy Wallace and husband, Kenny of Belfast, Virginia; special caregiver, Margaret Daniels of Lebanon, Virginia and several additional nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 AM Monday with Rev. Carl Burmeier and Rev. Roy Lee Wilson officiating. Interment will follow in the Tiller Cemetery at Council, Virginia. Pallbearers will be Walter Ball, Scotty Wampler, Goebel Stevens, Kenny Wallace, Jack Ball and William Jackson. Honorary pallbearers will be Raymond Musick, Chris Ball, Mark Breeden, Vernal Boyd, William Gibson and Ronnie Ratliff. The family will receive friends after 6 PM Sunday at the Honaker Funeral Home where a service will be conducted at 7 PM with Rev. Kyle Ratliff officiating.
