Claire D. Shelly, 81, of Zionsville, passed away peacefully surrounded by her beloved family on April 16, 2015. She was the wife of the late J. Howard Shelly. Born in Hosensack, she was a daughter of the late Henry and Elizabeth (Eschbach) Miller. Early in life, she worked for Harleysville Insurance Company and then she worked with her husband on the farm. She was a lifelong member of Hosensack Evangelical Congregational Church, where she played the piano for many years. Claire was an avid gardener, enjoyed cooking (especially soups), and she was very devoted to her faith and her family. Surviving are her children, Jonathan and his wife Terry of East Greenville, Timothy and his wife Brenda of Palm, Carol, wife of Carl Tankred of Palm, Sally wife of Jeffrey Tankred of Zionsville, and Lois Shelly of Boyertown; grandchildren: Katie, Jeffrey, Samantha, James, Tyler, and Matthew; and a brother, Eugene and his wife Elsie, of Red Hill. She was predeceased by sisters, Elva Schultz and Dorothy Miller. Services will be held at 11 AM, Thursday at the Hosensack Evangelical Congregational Church, 7663 Buhman Rd, Zionsville, PA 18092. All are invited to a viewing from 6 – 8 PM on Wednesday at the Falk Funeral Home, 163 Main St., Pennsburg, and from 10 – 11 AM on Thursday in the church. Interment will follow the church service in the Hosensack Schwenkfelder Meetinghouse Cemetery. Contributions in her memory may be made to her church.
