Thomas J. Williams, age 72, of Milford passed away peacefully in his home on Thursday, April 16, 2015. He was born on May 31, 1942 in Bridgeport to the late John “Jack” S. and Ellen Dougherty Williams. He was the loving husband, of 44 years, to Attorney Jackale “Jackie” Spanier Williams. He attended the University of Miami and graduated from the University of New Haven with a Bachelor of Science in General Management. Tom started as a teller in 1967 at Sikorsky Credit Union in Stratford and retired as President and CEO in December 2012. After his retirement, Sikorsky Credit Union renamed their scholarships the “Thomas J. Williams Scholarships.” Tom and Jackie enjoyed many trips, especially to Las Vegas, Bermuda and Hawaii. He was an avid reader known for reading four newspapers daily and numerous books weekly. Along with being a passionate tennis player, Tom always enjoyed “playing in the dirt.” The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Ben (River) Judson of Smilow, Dr. Gary Horbett, Dr. Paul Wineland and Dr. Walter Russo. Besides his devoted wife, he is survived by “his girl” Goldie, sister-in-law Jill Spanier of Stratford, formerly of Ansonia. He also leaves behind his many friends and co-workers, especially Jim and Kathy Murphy of Oxford, and Richard and Nance Murphy of North Carolina and their families. Calling hours are Sunday, April 19, 2015 from 4 to 7pm at the Smith Funeral Home, 135 N. Broad St., Milford. All funeral services and interment will be private.
