Marguerite Helen Carlson, age 85 of Manistee died Tuesday morning April 14, 2015 at her home. She was born in Detroit, Michigan on March 9, 1930 the daughter of the late John E. and Pauline E. (Bernatowicz) Piotrowski. She was a schoolteacher in Highland Park, Michigan and for the United States Air Force at bases in Puerto Rico, England and Germany. She married Leonard Alfred Carlson on February 8, 1964 in Detroit. She was a member of Guardian Angels Catholic Church in Manistee. Her Hobbies included quilting, painting, basket weaving, sewing, she was an avid reader, lover of Lake Michigan and the outdoors, and traveling. She traveled to Australia, Alaska, New Zealand, Honduras, and over many of the 50 United States including their second home in Pensacola Beach, Florida. Marguerite is survived by her husband, Leonard Carlson; son, Steven, daughter, Christina (Marty Alley), sister, Barbara (Donald) Harter all of Manistee, as well as many nieces , nephews, and friends. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Mary Ann Ganss, and two brothers, Eugene Peters and John E. Piotrowski. A Memorial Mass from the Order of Christian Funerals will be celebrated on Saturday, April 18, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Guardian Angels Catholic Church in Manistee with Father John McCracken celebrant. The family will receive friends at the church from 10:00 AM until time of the Memorial Mass.
