Emily Stevens Ball

Mrs. Emily Stevens Ball, age 91, of Lexington, North Carolina, formerly of Tazewell County, Virginia, passed away Thursday (April 9, 2015) at a High Point, North Carolina nursing facility. Born June 4, 1923 in Honaker, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Earl and Alice Roosevelt Miller. She was a lifelong resident of Tazewell County prior to moving to North Carolina in 2009. She attended Drill Chapel and loved to sing and praise her Lord. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Rev. Allen Stevens, her second husband, Edward Ball, one daughter, Judy Dye, four brothers, Harold Miller, Earl Miller, Jr., and infants, Vernon Miller and Edward Miller, two sisters, Charlotte Lowery and Lucille Myers, one daughter, Judy Dye and three grandsons, Kevin Hess, Joshua Delp, Jeremy Dye. Survivors include two daughters, Melissa “Missy” Boyd and husband, Jeff of Trinity, North Carolina, and Sharon Robinette and husband, Edward of Swords Creek; two brothers, Harry Slagle Miller of Ohio and Gerald Lee Miller of Wyoming; three sisters, Gladys Hess of Ohio, Oneeda Hagan and Betty Hess both of Florida; two very special grandsons, Scottie Boyd and Adam Boyd and eight additional grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 PM Sunday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, Virginia with Bro. Terry Honaker and Bro. Chester Ball officiating. Entombment will follow in Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill, Virginia. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Friends may call at the Honaker Funeral Home after 6:00 PM Saturday.
