Miriam “Mim” R. Charlesworth Smith, 87, of Hershey, passed away on Monday, March 30, 2015, in Country Meadows, Hershey, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Harrisburg on June 18, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Kathryn Schaner Charlesworth. Miriam was a book keeper for her husband, Lee, and his construction company, LM Smith Associates. Prior to meeting her husband, Miriam was employed by Bell Telephone. She was a 1945 graduate of Enola High School, and studied at Dickinson College. Miriam was a member of Spring Creek Church of the Brethren, Hershey, and taught Sunday school for many years. She was a Water Safety Instructor and founded the Learn to Swim Program in Conewago Township. Miriam was a former PTA President at Conewago Elementary School and also taught 4-H classes. When she was not participating in various community activities, Miriam enjoyed knitting, swimming, gardening, and fishing. Miriam was preceded in death by her loving husband, Lee M. Smith, on January 10, 2012. She is survived by a son, Lee A. Smith husband of Debra A. of Hershey; two daughters, Laurel A. Schiavoni wife of Walter D. of Hershey, and Nancy S. Hoefel wife of Thomas of Belleville; eight grandchildren, Zachary Andrew Smith, Katrina Arielle Smith, Sara Lim Smith, Caleb Christian Schiavoni, Kathryn Elizabeth Schiavoni, Micah Peter Schiavoni, Shannon Lee Hoefel, and William Thomas Hoefel.
