Queensbury Bernard Vincent Brown, 78, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 31, 2015 at Fort Hudson Nursing Center. Born in Hudson Falls on July 7, 1936, he was the son of the late Bernard and Elizabeth (LaPoint) Brown. He was a graduate of Hudson Falls High School. Bernard enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1956 and served his country until 1958. On February 28, 1959 Leonard Russell married Bernard and the love of his life Carolyn Durkee in Hudson Falls. He was employed as a supervisor at Scott Paper Co. in Fort Edward for many years. Bernard Retired in 1992. Bernard was a member of Kingsbury Hose Co. and also of the Fort Edward Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed camping, golf, cooking, taking trips with his grandchildren, spending time with family and many longtime friends. Besides his parents Bernard is predeceased by his mother-in-law, Dorothy Durkee and father-in-law Herbert Durkee. Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Carolyn Brown of Queensbury; his daughters Robbin Brown of Hudson Falls, Sandra Howe and husband Scott of Queensbury and Cheryl Bombard and husband Mark of Florida; his sister Dawn Chabot and companion Bud Fisher of South Glens Falls; his brothers Tom Brown and wife Doreen of Rockhill, South Carolina and Roger Brown and wife Kathy of South Glens Falls; his brother-in- laws Robert Durkee and wife Jane of Hudson Falls, William Durkee and wife Marge of Fort Edward and H. Richard Durkee of Hudson Falls his grandsons Kristopher Howe and wife Jennifer of Fort Ann, Nathaniel and fiancé Ashlee Davis of Queensbury and Hayden Bombard of Norfolk Viriginia; his granddaughter Nicole Hall of Swansea, South Carolina; great grandchildren Abigail, Jacob, Ainsley and Jadelyn; his two best friends, Bill and Mary Lou Cartier; along with several nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may call from 9-11am on Friday, April 3, 2015 at the Hudson Falls Methodist Church 227 Main St, Hudson Falls, NY 12839. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 on Friday April 3, 2015 after the calling hours at the church with a reception at Fellowship Hall. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. The family wishes to thank the Fort Hudson Nursing Center’s care takers on G wing for their loving care, especially Marissa.
