Harvey Jones

Harvey L. Jones, 89, of Decatur, IN died on Monday, March 30, 2015 at his residence. Harvey was born on September 21, 1925 in Mobile County, Alabama to the late Harlan H. and Sallie O. (Caulder) Jones. On October 28, 1950 he married D. Ann Werling. Harvey was a member of Pleasant Mills United Methodist, where he served as Treasurer and Trustee. He retired from International Harvester and from Custom Car Care. Harvey proudly served his country during World War II in the United States Navy, including the Normandy Invasion, as well as many others. He was a member of the American Legion Post 43, V.F.W., Decatur Masonic Lodge #571of which he was Past Master, Adams County Shine Calliopers, Scottish Rite Valley of Ft Wayne, Mizpah Shriners Ft. Wayne, Sons of the American Revolution, served on Adams Central School Board for many years as well as St. Mary’s Township Advisory Board. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, D. Ann Jones of Decatur; son, Jim R. (Jody) Jones of Decatur; daughter, Kim E. (Ronald) Dietrich of Willshire, OH; two sisters, Doris (George) Ray of Marion, IN and Mary Ann (Jack) Bebout of Decatur; 10 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Karl, Glenn, and Benjamin and a sister Martha Von Gunten. Visitation will be from 3:00-7:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at Haggard-Sefton & Hirschy Funeral Home followed by a 7:00 p.m. Masonic Service. Funeral Service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 2nd also at the funeral home with Rev. Ernie Suman officiating. Burial will be in Decatur Cemetery with Military Rites by American Legion Post 43 Color Guard. Memorials are to Pleasant Mills United Methodist Church or Shriner’s Children Hospital.
