<p>Cheryl Ann Stanley, 66, of Cranberry Township, PA passed away unexpectedly on Friday, March 27, 2015 at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital with her family members by her side. She was born in New Castle, PA on August 2, 1948. Ms. Stanley was the beloved daughter, friend, and traveling companion of Virginia R. Stanley of New Castle and the late Arthur L. Stanley. </p><p><br></p><p>She was a 1966 graduate of New Castle Senior High School and graduated from Slippery Rock State University with a degree in History Education. Because of her continuous placement on the Dean’s List, she was chosen to host the Dean’s List Teas and various functions. Because of her love for history, Cheryl researched and compiled ancestry and genealogy data. She received her master’s degree from Ohio University in Athens, OH where she went on to work in a doctoral teaching assistantship. Cheryl had retired after 36 years of employment from the Pennsylvania State Government with her last position being the Assistant Director of the Allegheny County Welfare Systems. She worked on many special projects for the state and traveled to Harrisburg for presentations and seminars. Ms. Stanley received numerous accolades for her near perfect attendance in all these years. She was very active in the Catholic Church, having taught catechism classes early on and heading many St. Vincent DePaul Society committees especially for collecting and donating Christmas gifts to children and families. One of her favorite hobbies was baking special Christmas cookies. She was currently a member of St. Kilian’s Church in Cranberry Township and previously St. Ferdinand’s Parish. Cheryl spent summers at her lake house at Canadohta Lake, PA where she enjoyed her passion for reading hundreds of books each year and caring for her pets, Mickey and Patches. Cheryl will always be remembered for her great generosity and unselfishness. She is very loved by her family and will be greatly missed. Even in death, Cheryl gave the precious gift of life to another. </p><p><br></p><p>Cheryl is survived by her brother, Richard A Stanley of Brigantine, NJ; sister, Cynthia Stanley Ferro of Egg Harbor Township, NJ; niece, Cassandra Lyn Ferro and Joseph Docherty and great-niece Cayley Jenna, also of Egg Harbor Township; nephew, Eric P. Ferro and his wife Nicolette of Dumont, NJ; and her niece, Dr. Nicole Natasha Ferro of Egg Harbor Township. </p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p>Visitation will be held Wednesday from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home 3000 Wilmington Rd. Services will be conducted Thursday at 11:00am at the funeral home, officiated by Father William Siple of St. Joseph the Worker Church.</p><p><br></p><p>Interment will take place in Oak Park Cemetery.</p>
