Myrtle Harris Halpenny, 74, of Fairmont, formerly of Enterprise, passed away at 9:05am, Sunday, March 29, 2015 at the Fairmont Regional Medical Center. She was born in Wyatt, October 9, 1940, a daughter of the late Sheldon Roy and Madge Marie Layfield Shingleton. On October 6, 1962, she married John C. Halpenny, who preceded her in death on March 30, 2014. Surviving are two sons, Richard Lee Halpenny and his wife Jane, Michael Todd Halpenny and his wife Lisa, all of Fairmont, four grandchildren, Jimmy Halpenny and his wife Samantha, Barrickville, Jonathan, Christopher, and Emilee Halpenny, all of Fairmont, three sisters, Nancy McIntire, Enterprise, Norma Simon, Bridgeport, Elizabeth Butcher and her husband Gail, Monongah, one brother, Bill Shingleton and his wife Minda, Wyatt, and several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by three sisters, Maxine McClain, Betty O’Neal, and Mildred McIntire. Myrtle was a homemaker and a beloved mother and grandmother. Friends may call at the Perine Funeral Home, 1348 S. Pike St., Shinnston, from 2-8pm, Tuesday, where funeral services will be held at 11am, Wednesday, with Rev. Clifford West officiating.
