Jean Olah Obituary

OLAH, Jean Bernice Jean Olah, aged 86 years, passed away at Royal University Hospital, Saskatoon on Thursday, March 26, 2015. Jean was born a twin on January 7, 1929 to Ephraim and Janet Boon on the family farm near Venn. She attended Ridgeford School and Watrous High School. Jean married Jim Olah on October 9, 1950. They had two children Gerald and Sharon. Together they farmed south of Plunkett until they moved to Watrous in 1995 - house and all! She played an active role in the farming duties whether it was fieldwork or barn chores. Both on the farm and in Watrous she enjoyed gardening and took pride in her flowers. She cultivated bushels of vegetables and had shelves of canned goods. The pails were always full for watering! She loved to bake and there was always fresh buns and bread and treats for coffee. She was active in the Plunkett United Church and was an organist for many years. She continued her passion of playing until her passing. Jean and Jim enjoyed card playing with friends and loved to dance. They were married for 63 years. Jean moved into Jubilee Court in 2013 and enjoyed her new surroundings and their social activities. She was very proud of her family and extended family. Jean is survived by her son Gerald (Inger) Olah of Watrous and daughter Sharon (Moe) Kaminecki of St. Albert, Alta.; five grandchildren Karla (Chris) Roppel, Carmen (Ryan) Palfy, Curtis (Lindsy) Olah, Kelsey (Trevor) Shepard and Kailey (Mike) Hutton; nine great grandchildren Wade, Courtney, Alexys and Tyson Roppel, Jordyn and Jax Palfy, James and Sawyer Olah and Payton Shepard. Memorial service was held at Watrous Civic Centre on April 4 conducted by Rev. Alison West and Rev. Nancy Yee. Urnbearer was Kelsey Shepard. Bob and Gail Lawson were register attendants. Ushers were Norman McWillie, Austin Farago and Don Farago. Renai McWillie and Blanche Saelhof were memorial table attendants. Eulogy was given by Sharon Kaminecki and Kailey. Karla and Courtney Roppel, Curtis Olah and Carmen and Jordyn Palfy were readers. A poem for grandma was read by Kelsey Shepard and Kailey Hutton. Carmen Olah-Palfy presented a slide show. Pianist was Shelley Engele. Interment will take place at a later date. Memorial donations directed to Watrous Community Health Foundation or a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
