Harvey Kyte

KYTE, Harvey - Passed away on Thursday March 26, 2015 at Victoria Hospital, London with his wife Shirlee holding his hand. They were just shy by two weeks of their 69th anniversary. Left to mourn are their son Garry of Richmond B.C. and their daughter Sharilyn (George) Lundy of Woodstock. He was much loved “Bubbie” to LoriAnn, Dave (Janette), Gary (Amy), Kevin (Sue) and beloved Grandpa to Kristen (Tyler). He will also be sadly missed by his several great grandchildren. Predeceased by his parents Harold and Nellie Kyte, sister; Julia and by his brothers; Charlie and David. He was employed by Standard Tube for over 33 ½ years and retired in December of 1984. Harv and Shirlee enjoyed travelling Canada coast to coast, most of the USA, Australia and New Zealand. There were also several cruises fit in there as well as bus trips. Harv was an active sportsman starting early as an equestrian, hockey, baseball, curling, shuffleboard and golf. His one love was fishing the bay at Long Point where they resided for fifteen years for the summer and their mobile home in Palmetto. Florida for 18 winters. As they say in the movies.....”What a wonderful life”. Harv battled the last few years with dementia but never lost his sense of humour. He lived his past 5 months at 2 Perth Parkwood Hospital, London, where the entire staff helped him enjoy his final days. Many thanks to Dr. Borrie and the entire 2 Perth Team for their compassion and kindness. Harv was a Veteran of WWII-Merchant Navy, as well as a longtime member of the Royal Canadian Legion Br#55, Woodstock. Friends are invited to join the family at the Brock and Visser Funeral Home, 845 Devonshire Ave., Woodstock on Monday March 30, 2015 from 2-4 pm only. The funeral service will be held in the chapel at the funeral home on Tuesday at 11:00 am. Interment in Oxford Memorial Park Cemetery.
