Max L. Mattson, 76, of Hummelstown, passed away on Sunday, March 22, 2015, in his home.
Born in Hutchinson, KS on October 4, 1938, he was the son of the late Leland and Eileen Wernet Mattson.
Max was self employed as an independent salesman for the automotive industry and also played the part of Santa Claus at local malls for many years. He was 1956 graduate of Inman High School and a 1960 graduate of Kansas State with a degree in Agricultural Sciences. Max was an US Navy veteran and a Free Mason. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church of Union Deposit. Max was an avid hockey fan, especially the Hershey Bears. He was a general Renaissance man and handy man.
Max is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Patricia F. “Patti” Mathers Mattson, whom he married on July 24, 1976; his children, Michelle D. Martinson wife of Steve of Rockford, IL, Brent A. Mattson husband of Tracy of Canton, OH, Pam Mattson of Austin, TX, and Sean A. Mattson of Hummelstown; his brother, Terry Mattson husband of Carol of Wichita, KS; and his four grandchildren, Logan Martinson, Lily Martinson, Elizabeth J. Mattson, and Lydia C. Mattson.
A celebration of Max’s life will be held on Thursday, March 26, 2015 at 3 PM in the Trefz & Bowser Funeral Home, Inc., 114 West Main Street, Hummelstown. Inurnment will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery at a later time.
