Edith B. "Granny" Shelton, age , 96, 115 Edith Shelton Road, Unicoi went to be with her Lord on Saturday, March 21, 2015. She lived most of her life in Unicoi County. Mrs. Shelton was a daughter of the late Elisha and Dora Norton Shelton. She was a homemaker and a former employee of Appalachian Garment. Mrs. Shelton was a charter member of Memorial Union Church. She was a loving wife, mother and Granny. Mrs. Shelton prayed daily for all her children and loved ones.Other than her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-seven years, Hoy Shelton; one son, Hardy Shelton; one daughter, Charlotte Williams; one grandson, Ronnie Dwayne Shelton; one great granddaughter, Crystal Barnett; four brothers and three sisters. Mrs. Shelton leaves behind to cherish her memories two sons: Edward Shelton, Spartanburg, SC; Ronald Shelton and wife, Robin, Unicoi; three daughters: Edna Brummett, Dee Jones and Lena Onks and husband, Niles, all of Unicoi; Special sister-in-law, Kate Whitson; sixteen grandchildren, twenty-six great grandchildren, thirty-four great-great grandchildren, 10 great-great-great grandchildren, special nephew, James Shelton and wife, Karen, Erwin. A host of other nieces and nephews also survive. The family will receive friends Tuesday, March 24, 2015 from 5:00 - 7:00 P.M. from the Unicoi Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Estil Williams and Reverend Rusty Wishon will officiate the 7:00 P.M. funeral service. Music will be provided by Winfred Shelton and family. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Committal service will be held Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. from the Bell Cemetery, Unicoi.
