Mr. Hobert Street, age 70, of Rowe, Virginia, passed away on Wednesday (March 18, 2015) at his home following a courageous battle with cancer. Born March 23, 1944 in Buchanan County, Virginia, he was the son of the late Lee and Ida Street. A lifelong resident of the area, he was a member of the Rowe Pentecostal Church. A retired coal miner, he was employed by Pittston Coal Company for over twenty years and he loved riding horses. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Clarence Street; three sisters, Betty Jane Ward, Ollie Mae Lester and Ruby Joyce Street. Survivors include his wife of fifty-one years, Mable Jean Hess Street of the home, three sons, Danny Street and wife, Carolyn of Rowe, Virginia, Michael Street and wife, Michelle of Oakwood, Virginia, Timothy Street and wife, Rose of Rosedale, Virginia, one granddaughter Katelynn Street, three grandsons, Matthew Street, Skyler Street and Zevon Street, one great-grandson, Joseph Gage Vanover, two sister, Mable Brown of Rowe, Virginia and Kathleen Peck of Grundy, Virginia, one brother, Luther Street and wife, Gaye of Rowe, Virginia, special friend, Ronnie Vance, several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Saturday at the Honaker Funeral Home with Rev. Troy Harris and Rev. Tommy Dye officiating. Interment will follow in the Hess-Nuckles Cemetery at Fletcher’s Ridge. Pallbearers will be Harlis Hess, Herman Hess, Darrell Hess, Matthew Street, Skyler Street, Zevon Street, Brady Hess, Ronnie Vance, Katelyn Street and Joseph Gage Vanover. Honorary Pallbearers will be Joel Burke, Darrell Street, Jerry Brown, Billy Peck, Gary Hess, Kalvin Hess, Stevie Street, Bobby Street, Bill Meadows and Wayne Ray.
