William Von Gunten Obituary

William C. Von Gunten, 74, of Decatur, died on Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at IU Goshen Hospital in Goshen, IN. William was born on July 28, 1940 in Decatur, IN to the late Lawrence and Edith (Sprunger) Von Gunten. On June 24, 1967 he married Betty L. Lehman. William was a member of Cornerstone Community Church and was a Charter member of Decatur Missionary Church, he volunteered for many service ministries, most recently working with the Bread Ministry. He sang with the Edelweiss Singers in Berne and various singing groups at the church. He was a furniture trimmer for Berne Furniture for 46 years. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Betty L. Von Gunten of Decatur; two sons, Robert W. (Kelly) Von Gunten of Elkhart and Byron C. (Renee) Von Gunten of Woodburn; a brother, Kent (Lois) Von Gunten of Leo; two grandchildren, Avery and Maverick Von Gunten. He was preceded in death by step-mother, Vera Von Gunten. Visitation will be from 12:00 – 3:00 p.m. Sunday, March 22, 2015 at Haggard-Sefton & Hirschy Funeral Home and 1 hour prior to service at the church. Funeral Service will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 23, 2015 at Cornerstone Community Church with Pastor Kenneth Hogg officiating. Burial will be in M.R.E. Cemetery. Memorials are to Cornerstone Community Church.
