Beverly A. (Backofen) Pierce, 76, of Coventry, beloved wife of Robert R. Pierce Sr. passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Monday, March 16, 2015. She was born in Rockville, CT on August 4, 1938 daughter of the late Charles and Hazel (Johndrwo) Backofen. Besides her loving husband , Beverly is survived by her 7 children; David R. Brown of Stafford Springs, Robin Trahan and her husband Robert of Ellington, Joseph H. Brown of Chaplin, MO, Steven R. Pierce of Coventry, Scott R. Pierce and his wife Carol of Coventry, Debbie A. Descheneaux of Windsor Locks and Robert R. Pierce Jr. and his wife Janice of Westborough, MA, Her 10 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren. Beverly is also survived by her sibilings; Carol Gavin and her husband Eugene of Florida, Charles Backofen Jr. and his wife Ann of Wauregan, CT, Richard Backofen and his wife Shirley of Brimfield, MA, Robert Backofen and his wife Beverly of Cromwell, CT. Beverly was an amazing mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was an avid cook and baker, she was known for her wedding cakes, to which she made each one of her children’s for their weddings. She was a member of the Mother’s Club of Coventry and was also known as one of the top Avon sales reps in the state. She loved her birds, especially cardinals and humming birds, soap operas, and turkey shoots, along with camping with her relatives and friends. Beverly knew no strangers and had the gift of “gab” she was known by many as “Chatterbox” or “Gabby”. She had a huge heart and will be deeply missed. Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family for a graveside service on Friday March 20, 2015 at 11am at Center Cemetery RT 44 Coventry, CT.
