Obituary
Barbara Ann “Bosh” Weaber Gernert, 70, of Quentin, passed away Friday, March 13, 2015, in the Good Samaritan Hospital, Lebanon, with her loving husband at her side. Born in Mount Wilson on April 14, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Ira and Christine Schultz Weaber. Barbara retired after 33 years of service from the former Colebrook Lingerie Factory; and had worked as a cashier at the former CR Friendly’s in Schaefferstown. She attended Quentin United Church of Christ. Barbara loved playing pinochle with her immediate family. She was an avid reader; and had enjoyed bowling in tournaments, watching old movies and television shows, and doing crossword puzzles and jigsaw puzzles. Most important to Barbara, however, was spending time with her husband and son. Barbara is survived by her devoted husband of 51 years, Sterling M. Gernert, Sr., whom he married on September 14, 1963; one son, Sterling Mathias “Matt” Gernert, Jr. of Hummelstown; one brother, Ronald Weaber husband of Priscilla of Mount Wilson; two sisters, Kathleen Long wife of Barry of Lebanon, and Christine Shuman wife of Larry of Mount Wilson; and brother-in-law, Kenneth Rauch husband of her late sister, Julia. In addition to her parents and Julia, Barbara was also preceded in death by a sister, Mary Weaber. A celebration of Barbara’s life will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2015 at 11 AM in the Quentin United Church of Christ, 11 East Main Street, Lebanon, with The Rev. Jacquelyn M. Lingelbach officiating. A visitation will be held Saturday in the church from 10:30 AM until time of the services. Trefz & Bowser Funeral Home, Inc., 114 West Main Street, Hummelstown, is handling the arrangements. In lieu of flowers the family has requested memorial contributions made to the Good Samaritan Hospital Development Office, PO Box 1281, Lebanon, PA, 17042, to benefit their hospice center. Please write in the memo line “Hospice Donation in Memory of Barbara Gernert”.
